| Puppies will start nibbling on solid food at 3 to 4 weeks of age as a supplement to mother's milk. At least one week prior to weaning introduce them gradually to River Run Growth Formula Puppy Food moistened with warm water or milk. After weaning, feed them daily 1 ounce for every pound of puppy weight. (A standard 8-ounce measuring cup contains about 3 ounces of Growth Formula Puppy Food). Provide it in 4 daily feedings up to 3 months of age, 3 times daily up to 6 months of age, and then twice daily. Feed your puppy moistened food until their teeth are developed. Then, gradually reduce the amount of liquid until you feed dry to help them keep clean teeth and healthy gums. You may also feed Growth Formula Puppy Food to pregnant and lactating females which need added calories and more energy than adult dogs. Pregnant or lactating females should be fed free-choice as long as their body weight is normal. Puppies do best on a regular feeding schedule of two to three meals per day. Amounts will vary depending on puppy's size and age. Use the following chart as a guide only. Amounts may need to be adjusted to fit the growth needs of your puppy. Amounts are listed in cups (an 8 oz. cup contains about 3 oz. of River Run Growth Formula Puppy Food). |
