Black SunflowerThe high oil content is vital for providing needed energy.
Red MilletNot as popular as white millet but adds color to the seed mix.
White MilletWidely used in Wild Bird Mixes. It is preferred by many small birds.
Cracked CornUsed mainly in mixes, but can be fed alone.
MiloUsed in lower priced mixes to keep cost down. Not used in high quality mixes.
Striped SunflowerPreferred by larger birds such as Blue Jays. However, most birds prefer Black Sunflower.
SafflowerMany birds that like sunflower like safflower, Squirrels & Sparrows do not like it.
Peanut PartsPreferred by birds such as Cardinals, usually found in mixes, becoming popular to feed alone.
Nyjer ThistleVERY POPULAR with Gold Finches, Purple Finches and many other small birds.

Straight Black Sunflower should be your first choice of wild bird feed, followed by straight Nyjer Thistle and Finch SpecialTM. A high quality mix such as Nutrena Ultra Wild BirdTM and clean fresh water should also be offered to attract the widest variety of birds.
