^ MnVAP Alfalfa Feed Pellets in Poultry Feeds

For the poultry industry, MnVAP's 23% Alfalfa Leaf Pellets are a low inclusion opportunity to improve performance. The protein content of MnVAP's 23% Alfalfa Leaf Pellets allows it to be used as more than a source of UGF's like 17% Dehydrated was in the past.

Recent University of Minnesota research shows significant benefits for market turkeys and breeder hen turkeys with 23% at the low inclusion rate of 2.5% of the diet. Two, four and eight week weights of tom turkeys fed 2.5% 23% Alfalfa Leaf Pellets were increased significantly over controls (P.05) while 2.5% treated birds continued to be heaviest at 12 and 16 weeks. Rate of gain was also improved by a ration including 2.5% 23% Alfalfa Leaf Pellets for the 0-4 week and 4-8 week period. Rate of gain still tended to be greater than the control after 8 weeks. Feed intake was increased numerically over the control for 23% Alfalfa Leaf Pellets fed birds.

Historically dehydrated alfalfa pellets were used by the poultry industry as a source of "unidentified growth factors". Use in market diets was limited because dehy's relative low protein (17%) and high fiber content. MnVAP's 23% has higher protein (23%) and lower fiber content -- making it more useful in market diets and also a likely candidate for breeder and breeder hen diets which are lower in energy. For breeding turkey hens, a 2.5% ration inclusion of 23% Alfalfa Leaf Pellets improved egg production and fertility in research conducted at the University of Minnesota.

MnVAP offers formulations for information only purposes. While they are indeed commercially viable and reflect appropriate nutritional and feeding information, MnVAP does not and will not sell formulated feeds. Open formulas of any MnVAP example rations are available upon request.

MnVAP sells alfalfa feed pellets in convenient 50 lb. bags or in bulk, as well as pellet meal in 50 lb. bags and bulk. Contact us at 320-231-2400 or feedsales@mnvap.com to purchase or learn more about our industry-leading alfalfa feed products.
